Smedis holds a Master degree in Computer Science from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. He has a 20 year history working in the game industry and is currently working on the Unity game engine as a Principal Graphics Engineer in the Emergent Technologies group at Unity. He has also held positions at Epic Games working on the Unreal engine, the Gears of War series, and Unreal Tournament 3 and Pandemic Studios as an engine programmer for Full Spectrum Warrior and Saboteur.
Smedis is going to talk about how it is to work in the game industry from his personal experience point of view having been in the trenches for the past 20 years (e.g. how he got into the game industry, education, crunch time, lack of women in the game industry, careers, small/big teams, etc). He will also talk a bit about game engines and give a few technical tips that he feels passionate about when making a game.
